First of all, you can use the no in an essay because you want to get your point across. If you haven't been given permission to write an essay, then that is okay, so long as you are not announcing a topic that is a small part of the whole essay. For example, when I was in college, I was given this written approval to write an essay on 'How to Improve on My Writing Skills.' I was given permission to use the word 'No' in an essay.Well, when I got done writing the article, I did not announce any topic. In fact, I announced the following:So, you see, it is okay to write an article without announcing a topic. Remember, you are allowed to have it as long as you are not announcing any top ic.Now, there is another reason for using the no in an essay. It is because you don't want your article to be over-written.In a way, we are similar to a movie, where a director will sometimes over-write a scene, thinking that the audience won't notice because of their lack of understanding of basic sentence structure. The 'No' tells the audience to pay attention. So, yes, you can announce your topic in an essay, but only if you are writing for publication purposes.
